Care & Maintenance
For countertops that never lose their shine, refer to our Contigno Care & Maintenance Guide to keep your granite, quartz, and engineered stone surfaces in mint condition. By following our expert tips, you can count on superior surfaces that will serve you for years.
Maintain Flawless Quartz Countertops
Quartz holds the title as one of the strongest minerals on earth and due to a nearly indestructible resilience, is protected from most forms of damage including scratches, chips, staining, and moisture. An investment in quartz countertops is a practical decision that affords years of value and functional beauty for single-family homes to large scale apartment homes and businesses.
Unlike granite which must be sealed, quartz is nonporous and requires no special maintenance or treatments to preserve its long-lasting, lustrous sheen. Because of its antimicrobial qualities, quartz helps maintain a naturally sanitary environment and only mild cleansers are needed to keep surfaces clean. One of the very few disadvantages to quartz is a minor vulnerability to heat. Direct contact with temperatures above 150 degrees Fahrenheit is never recommended, and heat protection should always be used to avoid possible damage.
Keep Your Granite Surfaces Looking New
When it comes to durability, the resilience of granite is second only to quartz. This exceptionally hard surface is known for its extreme resistance to heat and surface damage and once sealed, is also highly resistant to stains and water. Our premium granite slabs have been meticulously sourced by rigorous inspection to find the most flawless surfaces with ideal hardness and density. Each slab is precisely cut and fabricated to the desired size and finished with a polished, honed or custom finish. The end result leads to stunning, multi-faceted surfaces that shine as a focal point in residential to commercial architecture.
Although minimal, granite does have some long-term maintenance needs. Due to its porosity, it is recommended to apply a sealing product every few years. Sealing your granite helps to reinforce protection against staining and liquid spills as well as keeps bacteria from harboring in the natural grooves of your surface. The frequency of sealing applications all depends on the quality of the sealing product, some sealers last 10 to 15 years while others need to be applied annually. When cleaning surfaces, a PH balanced cleanser should be applied with a soft cloth to keep finishes looking their best.
